Find Your Exercise Style
When it comes to weight loss and maintaining overall health, you don’t need a gym or a strict regiment of weight lifting. If your fitness goals revolve more around gaining muscle and strength then these things are extremely useful, but again, not completely necessary. There are many different ways to exercise, which means there are many different ways for you to get what you want.
The first step in your fitness journey starts with the choice of exercise that works best for you. Think of how much time you have to commit to exercise each week. How much equipment do you have at your disposal? Where will you be exercising?
The more you move, the healthier you will be. If you exercise outside of your home you’re more likely to exercise for longer and harder. Different goals require different styles of exercise. For example, weight lifting won't help you with your goal of becoming more flexible, just like jogging won't help you with your goal of gaining strength. Be sure that your exercise style choices are conducive to achieving your goals; otherwise all of your hard work will be spent achieving goals that are not yours.
Some styles to consider:
Walking/Jogging
Interval Cardio
Yoga/Stretching
Light Resistance Training
Heavy Strength Training
Sports
The truth is, that most goals are achieved fastest by doing moderate to heavy resistance training combined with regular mobility work. This is the best way to lose fat, gain muscle and strength, and increase your metabolism. Best results come from training in a gym with a variety of equipment and an environment with friendly faces and maybe even a workout partner.
