How To Eat With Unhealthy Eaters

Are you living with people who have no intention of eating healthy? Do you find yourself cooking for your kids and spouse who will turn up their noses if you put “diet” foods on the table? This post is for you!

First off, let me start by saying, “Good for you!”

It’s hard to live with people who don’t share your lifestyle habits…especially if these lifestyle habits aren’t even really habits for you…yet. You are a soldier on the path to a better life. And don’t worry, when they see how happy and healthy you feel, they’ll get on board with what you’re eating.

What’s the solution?

You want to be able to eat healthy foods, and you need to be able to make foods that your family will enjoy too.

Now, this might sound simple, but the easiest way to do this is to make separate dishes.

No! I’m not suggesting you make chicken fingers for the fam while you sit beside them with your salad.

I mean, cook a protein and vegetable separately from the excessive carbs and fats. If I’m making stir fry, the meat and veg are in the frying pan, and I leave the noodles on the side. If I’m making any Tasty recipe, I leave the cheese on the side (you know the Tasty recipe I'm talking about...#allofthem). Cleaning the extra dish is a small price to pay for your health and fitness goals.

Next I need treats to eat when everyone else is eating chips. My weakest moment is when we’re watching a movie on Friday night. Everyone has a handful of chips, how can I not indulge!

I need something that resembles the snack my family is eating so I never feel like I’m missing out. For a chip substitute I use zucchini chips (find the recipe at “Zucchini Chips”). For a chocolate substitute I use my chocolate peanut butter bark (find the recipe at “Chocolate Peanut Butter Bark”).

You can do this! You may be on this path alone right now, but soon your family will see your results and beg to join you!
