Back Pain

Chronic Non-Specific Low Back Pain does not exist. As Kevin Darby says, “Chronic non-specific low back pain is like Santa Claus”...sorry kids.

Consider these points about back pain:

1)   Most people will experience back pain in their lives.

2)   The number one identifier of back pain is having back pain in the past (if you had it once you’ll likely have it again).

3)   Once your back pain is diagnosed…you can forget about your diagnosis and focus on what movement will most likely help you become pain free.

4)   Movement is healing.

If you’re anything like me you’ve used your back pain as a label that shapes your life. “Do you want to go dancing? No, my back hurts too much to dance, or even stand for that long. Do you want to go to the movies? No, I my back hurts too much to sit for that long.”

Certain movements hurt so much that we start to look like robots if we have to open a door or lift the laundry basket off the floor. Eventually, it’s not just painful during those specific movements…it’s painful all the time.

What’s the solution?

Thanks to Kevin Darby, we have many simple tips for decreasing your pain and getting you back to moving again. We will be featuring videos from Kevin for the next few months to help you take your life back. SUBSCRIBE for updates on new videos added! It’s time you didn’t have to think twice about whether you can play with your kids today or whether you can do dinner and a movie tonight.

Tips from Kevin you can use today:

1)   If you have to sit (do you have a desk job?) shift your position often.

2)   If you have to stand (standing in one spot most of the day?) shift your position often.

3)   Move as often as possible. Put things that you use often, out of reach like your phone, so when it rings you have to stand to get it. Drink lots of water so you have to get up to pee often.

4)   Fast walking – for those who experience pain, use a brisk paced walk intermittently throughout the day.

When I was in pain I got stuck in the mindset that moving would be more painful. I was wrong! Don’t let this happen to you. Remember, movement is healing.
